2.1 No Guarantee of Accuracy: Our service uses AI technology to generate educational content, including questions and answers. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or appropriateness of any AI-generated content.

2.2 User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of all educational content before relying on it. AI systems may:

• Produce factually incorrect information
• Misinterpret source documents
• Generate age-inappropriate content
• Create biased or misleading questions
• Make computational or logical errors

2.3 Supervision Required: Parent and teacher accounts should review all AI-generated content before allowing children or learners to use it. We strongly recommend adult supervision during learning sessions.

2.4 Not a Substitute: This service is not a substitute for professional education, qualified teachers, or curriculum-approved materials.

2.5 AI Learning Assistant (Cogsy): Our platform includes an AI-powered learning assistant ("Cogsy") that provides:

• Conversational educational support and study guidance
• Answers to questions about learning materials
• Explanations of incorrect answers during learning sessions
• Tiered hints (nudges, strategy shifts, worked examples) when learners answer incorrectly
• Personalised recommendations and motivational messages
• Gap quizzes to identify and remediate knowledge gaps

Cogsy's responses are AI-generated and may contain errors or inappropriate content. All interactions should be verified by supervising adults before being relied upon for educational purposes. The AI assistant has contextual awareness of your learning progress, learner profile, and communication preferences, and may adapt its tone, language, and teaching approach accordingly.

2.6 AI Progress Reports & Insights: Parent and teacher accounts receive AI-generated progress insights and analysis based on learner activity data. These reports:

• Provide summaries of learning patterns and performance trends
• Identify strengths and areas for improvement
• Suggest focus areas and study recommendations
• Are generated through automated analysis and may not be fully accurate

Progress reports should be used as guidance only and verified against actual learner performance and understanding.

2.7 AI Recommendations: The platform uses AI to recommend lessons, study guides, and content based on your profile and activity. These recommendations are algorithmically generated and may not always be appropriate for your specific educational needs or curriculum requirements.

2.8 AI Learner Profiling: By using SideCog, you consent to our AI systems automatically generating and maintaining learner profiles based on platform interactions. These profiles include:

• Inferred learning styles, preferences, and communication traits
• Personality and motivation assessments derived from interaction patterns
• Concept mastery maps, misconception tracking, and teaching strategy effectiveness records
• Hint usage patterns, retry behaviour, and gap quiz outcomes

These profiles exist solely to improve the educational experience. Supervising adults can view AI-generated profiles for their learners. The primary parent may request deletion of AI-generated profiles at any time.

2.9 AI Interaction Terms: When using AI features within the platform:

• AI chat conversations may be logged and analysed for service improvement and quality assurance
• Do not share sensitive personal information, medical details, or confidential data with AI assistants
• AI responses are for educational guidance only and should not be treated as authoritative or definitive
• The AI may process your learner profile, learning needs, progress statistics, conversation history, and module content to provide contextual and personalised assistance
• AI conversation data handling is governed by our Privacy Policy

3.1 "As Is" Service: The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied.

3.2 No Guarantee of Availability: We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. The service may be subject to:

• Temporary or permanent interruptions
• Scheduled or unscheduled maintenance
• Technical failures or outages
• Third-party service disruptions

3.3 Right to Modify or Discontinue: We reserve the absolute right to:

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice
• Terminate or suspend user accounts without notice or liability
• Delete user content and data at our discretion
• Change pricing, features, or subscription tiers without prior notice
• Shut down the entire platform permanently without notice

3.4 No Liability: We shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from service interruptions, account terminations, or shutdown of the platform.

4.1 Account Types: The platform offers different account types:

• Parent/Teacher Accounts: Supervisory accounts for adults (18+) who manage child/learner accounts
• Child/Learner Accounts: Managed accounts for students under supervision
• Admin Accounts: Platform administration accounts

4.2 Age Requirements: You must be at least 18 years old to create a parent or teacher account. Child/learner accounts must be created and supervised by a parent or teacher.

4.3 Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.

4.4 Accurate Information: You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating accounts and to update this information as needed.

5.1 Your Content: You retain ownership of all documents, materials, and content you upload to the platform ("Your Content").

5.2 License to Process: By uploading content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

• Process and analyze your documents using AI
• Store your content on our servers
• Generate educational materials based on your content
• Use third-party AI services (such as OpenAI) to process your content

5.3 AI-Generated Content: Content generated by our AI systems is provided for your use within the platform. You may use AI-generated content for personal educational purposes.

5.4 Prohibited Content: You may not upload content that:

• Infringes intellectual property rights
• Is a textbook, workbook, exam paper or article you do not have permission to copy
• Contains illegal, harmful, or offensive material
• Violates privacy or data protection laws
• Contains malware or malicious code

5A.1 You must have the right to upload it: By uploading material you confirm that you own it, that you are licensed to use it, or that you have written permission from the rights owner. You agree to keep proof of that permission and to provide it if we ask.

5A.2 Books, textbooks and publisher material: Photographs, scans and PDFs of a book, workbook, atlas, exam paper or article belong to their publisher or authors unless you hold the rights. Permission is needed before uploading them, including where the material is for your own classroom or your own child. When you build a subject from a book, you tell us the publisher or content owner; we record that and credit it on the lessons and visuals created from those pages. Naming a source is a courtesy, not a licence.

5A.3 You are responsible for how you use the platform: SideCog provides tools. You choose what to upload, who can see it, and what learners are asked to do. You are responsible for the content you add and for the lessons, revision plans, study guides and visuals created from it. Teachers and guardians remain responsible for supervising and approving what learners are set. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for content you or other users upload, for the use you make of the service, or for the accuracy and suitability of material generated from your uploads (see Sections 2, 7 and 8).

5A.4 Our reminders are guidance, not permission: Where the platform prompts you to confirm you may use material, that prompt does not grant you any right to copy it, and our processing of your upload does not make it lawful.

5A.5 Complaints and removal: If you believe material on SideCog infringes your copyright, email info@sidecog.com with where the material is, what it is, and enough to show you hold the rights. We investigate, remove or restrict access to material we agree is infringing, and may suspend or close accounts that repeatedly upload material without the right to.

5A.6 Your records: You can delete a subject, its pages and its visuals at any time. Deleting a subject does not remove copies already shared with learners you added, so remove those first if you need them gone.

7.1 No Educational Guarantees: We make no warranties or guarantees regarding:

• Learning outcomes or educational results
• Exam performance or academic success
• Accuracy of educational content
• Suitability for any particular curriculum or syllabus

7.2 Maximum Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claims arising from or related to this service shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

7.3 Exclusion of Damages: We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill.

SideCog allows you to create an account and sign in using your Snapchat account through Snap Kit Login Kit. By choosing to sign in with Snapchat, you agree to the following:

10A.1 What Snapchat Login Does: Snapchat Login Kit provides a convenient way to authenticate on SideCog without creating a separate email and password. It allows SideCog to:

• Verify your identity using your Snapchat account
• Retrieve your Snapchat display name to use as your profile name
• Retrieve your Bitmoji avatar to use as your profile picture

10A.2 What Snapchat Login Does Not Do: The Snapchat integration does not allow SideCog to:

• Post to your Snapchat account or send Snaps on your behalf
• Access your Snapchat friends, contacts, or messages
• View your Snaps, Stories, Memories, or any Snapchat content
• Access your Snapchat location or Snap Map data
• Share your SideCog activity or data with Snapchat

10A.3 Account Linking: When you sign in via Snapchat, a SideCog account is created and linked to your Snapchat external ID. If you already have a SideCog account linked to the same Snapchat account, you will be signed in to that existing account.

10A.4 Disconnecting Snapchat: You can disconnect Snapchat from SideCog at any time by revoking access in your Snapchat app settings (Settings > Connected Apps). After disconnecting, you will no longer be able to sign in via Snapchat, but your SideCog account and data will remain.

10A.5 Snap Kit Terms: Your use of the Snapchat sign-in feature is subject to Snap Inc.'s Terms of Service and Snap Inc.'s Privacy Policy in addition to these terms.

10A.6 Availability: The Snapchat sign-in option is provided as a convenience and may be modified, suspended, or removed at any time without notice. We are not responsible for any issues arising from Snapchat's service availability or changes to Snap Kit.
